BBC Tops Google List
26th July, 2010

Google’s list of 1,000 global websites places the BBC higher than any other website in the ‘News and Current Events’ category. The list, recently released by Google, ranks sites on unique visitors and places the BBC’s website at #43 in the overall list of 1,000 sites, and above all other websites within the category. The new list to be published monthly and produced by Google’s DoubleClick Ad Planner, is designed to enable quick reference to the top performing websites. It details the number of unique users, the number of page views and reach for each of the website listed.

Luke Bradley-Jones, EVP and MD of the International version of BBC.com commented: “This is great news for the site - we’re in fantastic company in the list…Our own analytic show we have loyal audiences in every corner of the world and we’re proud that reach takes us to the top of Google’s News and Current Events category.”   The BBC website allows advertising on the international version, to be seen only by visitors accessing the site from outside of the UK.
